Did you know that there is a difference between organic, certified organic and all natural? Many people don’t, and we don’t blame you. With so much noise and so many buzz words in the industry right now about sustainable practices, organic products and being authentic, it can be tricky to know what means what, what is best for you and who is actually what they say they are.

Sanctum Skincare offer sustainable, certified organic products, certified through leading Australian certification bodies. The certification symbols on our products and website, ensure that our Skincare is 100% naturally derived and made from Certified Organic raw materials, medicinal grade, therapeutic herbal and plant extracts, cosmeceutical levels of active vitamins and soothing essential oils. We use a unique, propriety natural preservative system which blends herbal extracts fortified with natural anti-oxidants and vitamins. Sanctum is certified with the Australian Organic Food Chain and as an Australian Organic Cosmetic Certified Processor. We are also members of Choose Cruelty Free (CCF), an independent Australian Organisation that accredits when products are NOT tested on animals and certified with the U.K based Vegan Society and proudly display their logo. So, what does this all mean to you?

Why choose certified organic?

Did you know that ‘organic’ is not currently regulated in Australia? That means products can claim ‘organic’ without having to follow any regulations or standards in place. You can call just about anything ‘organic’ these days, except if you wish to export. There are rules and laws which are policed by AQIS (Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service) to help protect Australia's good name in overseas markets. To export products as organic, you must be a certified organic processor (Sanctum are!) or grower, and have your manufacturing facility and your formulations approved by an AQIS approved certifying body. Unfortunately, there are a number Australian brands who do not export and bypass this process, giving them an opportunity to claim ‘organic’ without certification. By knowing the facts around organic food and product labelling, it gives you the knowledge and power to make informed decisions about your purchases. Look for certifications symbols. Products that feature organic certification logos ensure that what you are buying is truly certified organic. At Sanctum, we have been making 100% natural skin care since 1992 and reformulated our entire range to become certified organic in 2006. Product integrity has always been a priority. We believe strongly in TRUTH WITHIN LABELLING, so you can be assured, that all ingredients used in our products, are certified organic.

How Do I Make the Shift to Certified Organic?

Making the switch to chemical free, organic or certified organic products gives you peace of mind that what you are using is free from synthetic chemicals and ultimately good for you. It also supports the health of our natural environment for the benefits of future generations. Start small. Switch to certified organic products, as you run out of your current products. We recommend Sanctum’s Certified Organic Soap as a simple and cost-effective place to start. Most people actively try to minimize the amount of toxins that enter their body. They eat good food, they drink purified water, they breath purified air and some even take added measures to detoxify their body. Many people don’t realise that toxins can be absorbed through the skin. Never has there been a better time to switch the soap you use. Given the industrious process used to produce many of the commonly known soaps, it’s no surprise that most soaps contain questionable chemicals, dyes and fragrances. If you want to minimise the “casual toxins” you and your family are exposed to, consider using Sanctum organic soap like our Lavender & Chamomile. Recommended for all skin types and certified organic, 99% of ingredients are classified organic and 100% naturally derived. The soothing and gentle qualities of Lavender and Chamomile combine to create a luxurious soap, with the inclusion of Lavender flowers to offer a mild exfoliation. Use daily in the bath or shower, cleansing all over your body. Rinse off well.
